Health Conditions

Paying attention to the messages from your body is important in understanding various health conditions that could be affecting you.  We most frequently treat but not limited to...

  1. Back or Neck Pain: These are very common complaints. Back pain affects 80 of Americans, and neck pain 70%. Pain is an important warning, natures way of telling you that something is wrong. This usually occurs when the condition reaches a stage that your body can no longer handle it internally. This is usually the last symptom observed. Frequently the pain will come and go, and change in intensity. It is important to get evaluated with any symptomatology. Chiropractic treatment is the most effective treatment for biomechanical pain. Chiropractic is also effective at treating more than just back or neck pain as well.

  2. Headaches and Migraines: Headaches are very common, affecting 95% of the population at one point or another.  There are many types of headaches, tension, vascular, migraine, cervicogenic etc. Chiropractic care can be very effective at finding the cause of and helping to relieve your headache. In addition, your chiropractor can help identify triggering factors, and help suggest therapy, relaxation exercises and lifestyle modifications to decrease future headaches.

  3. Leg pain and Sciatica: Pain radiating down the leg or legs can be due to a variety of reasons. It may be disc or sciatic nerve pain and due to a misalignment of the bones, tightness of muscles causing torque or compression of nerves, inflammation and swelling, or a combination of these. Chiropractic treatment is effecting at identifying the cause and correcting it. In addition, your chiropractor can help identify habits and other factors contribution to your pain.

  4. Disc Degeneration and Disc Pain: Discs are the cushions or shock absorbers of the spine. These allow movement to occur in the spine so the bones do not grind on each other. The spine can stand alot of stress but slight pressure such as the weight of a dime can cause irritation on a nerve. As we grow older and less active or discs lose fluid and thin weakening them. Discs need motion to keep them healthy and functioning properly. Chiropractic manipulation and traction therapy help maintain discs and keep them functioning properly. Disc problems fall into 3 main categories, herniated discs, ruptured disc, and disc degeneration. Fortunately the majority can be treated non-surgically.

  5. Carpal Tunnel Syndrome: According to the US Bureau of Labor and Statistics, this is the most commonly reported medical problem reported in the work place. This condition is a result of excess pressure on the median nerve as it passes through the wrist. The excess pressure causes painful irritation and inflammation of the nerve and tendons. This condition can be effectively treated non-surgically by chiropractic, and therapeutic modalities frequently.

  6. Temporomandibular Joint pain: This is a diagnosis to describe face, headache and jaw pain, that may be associated with popping or clicking with chewing. Chiropractic treatment and therapy addresses the biomechanical stress and imbalance in the muscles and joints causing this condition.

  7. Pinched Nerves: Nerves control all of our bodies functions making muscles move, organs do their job and account for smell, taste and all the other things we “notice” and  feel. Nerve pain is frequently described as numbness, tingling, burning or pins and needle sensation. Often pain is due to an impaired disc, misalignment of the bones, tightness of muscles causing torque or compression of nerves, nerve irritation or  swelling, or a combination of these. Chiropractic treatment is effecting at identifying the cause and helping to correct it. In addition, your chiropractor can help identify habits and other factors contribution to your pain.

  8. Arthritis and Joint Degeneration: A misaligned joint will cause torque and stress on the joint leading to bone spurs and degeneration. Muscles, ligaments, and stretch unevenly restricting motion and causing pain. Furthermore, nerves can become irritated causing malfunction and pain. Your chiropractor can help you halt degeneration through chiropractic manipulation, therapy, in addition to giving you advice about posture and daily habit that may be increasing the wear and tear on your joints.

  9. Plantar Fascitis: This is an inflammation and irritation in the muscles, ligaments and connective tissue in the feet. This can cause foot leg and low back pain. You chiropractor will treat this by using physical therapeutic modalities, and manipulation of joints to decrease the stress causing this condition.  If a foot imbalance is contributing to this problem, we can order custom made foot orthotics for correction.

  10. Scoliosis: All normal spines naturally have curves, sometimes an abnormal sideways curve develops. This is called scoliosis, if left untreated this can cause an array problems. An abnormal curvature causes distortion, affecting  the muscles, joints, and organs.  This can lead to neurological problems, arthritis and even heart or lung compromise. Early detection is important to slow progression, and aid in symptom relief.

  11. Pregnancy: Many pregnant women are seen by chiropractors for drug-free relief of headaches, low back, hip and other pains. Chiropractic is the only treatment that addresses the physical changes in the body associated with pregnancy, making it an essential part of the healthcare of women. Women under chiropractic care have quicker and more smooth births.  Studies show labor duration is decreased 25-33% in women who are adjusted throughout pregnancy.

  12. Children: Children respond very well and rapidly to chiropractic care. Misalignments may occur in their spines due to poor posture, sport/ recreation injuries, falls etc. These misalignments can irritate the muscles, nerves and joints causing pain and dysfunction.

  13. Sports:  Almost all professional teams in all sports utilize chiropractic care. Chiropractic care helps speed recovery from injury, strengthen joints to prevent future injuries and enhance performance. Chiropractic manipulation increases joint motion and function enhancing mobility and therefore, athletic performance.  In addition chiropractic care and rehabilitation will help strengthen neuromuscular pathways to allow the body to heal correctly. With any injury the body naturally compensates and adapts, without proper rehabilitation, bad postural habits will be stored in the muscles memory and can lead to long term problems.
